Allegiant Air flight changes, cancellations & booking help

Allegiant prices the ticket low and charges for nearly everything else separately, which makes its change and cancellation rules unusually costly to get wrong. Here is how they actually work. Policy details verified 2026-09-20.

Independent service notice

Flights Cheap Fare is an independent travel agency. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an agent of Allegiant Air. Allegiant Air trademarks belong to their owner. For the airline's official channels, visit its website directly. When you use our service, we assist as an independent agency and charge a service fee that is disclosed before any payment.

Allegiant Air policy at a glance

Summary of publicly available airline policy as of 2026-09-20, taken from Allegiant's own optional services and fees schedule, which lists the current cancellation fee, Trip Flex pricing, carrier usage charge and booking fee. Your ticket's fare rules control — we verify them before any change. For official information, see the airline's own website.

The part that costs people money

Here is the trap, and it catches people every week: Allegiant gives you nothing back if you cancel within 7 days of departure. Not a credit, not a partial credit. Most airlines turn a late cancellation into some kind of future-travel value; Allegiant simply keeps it. If your plans are wobbling, decide 8 days out, not 2.

Your rights on every U.S. airline

Under U.S. DOT rules you can cancel any ticket within 24 hours of booking for a full refund (when departure is 7+ days away), and you are owed a cash refund — not just credit — when the airline cancels or significantly changes your flight.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to cancel an Allegiant flight?

Without Trip Flex, a temporarily reduced fee of $25 per passenger per segment applies, and the remaining value returns as non-refundable credit after the cancellation fee, carrier charges and booking fees are deducted. With Trip Flex there is no cancellation fee, but carrier charges and booking fees are still not returned.

What happens if I cancel my Allegiant flight at the last minute?

Nothing comes back. Allegiant issues no credit for no-shows or for cancellations made within 7 days of departure, so a ticket abandoned inside that window is a total loss.

Is Allegiant Trip Flex worth buying?

It is worth it when your dates are genuinely uncertain, because it covers one change or cancellation with no fee and it is the only way to keep value inside the 7-day window. It costs roughly $29 to $43 per person and must be purchased at booking.

Can I get a full refund from Allegiant?

Yes within 24 hours of booking, provided you booked at least 7 days before departure, and yes when Allegiant cancels or significantly changes your flight. U.S. DOT rules entitle you to a cash refund in that case, not just credit.
